Reporters learned from the Cyberspace Administration of China that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China's informatization development achieved remarkable results. In multiple areas including information infrastructure, the cyberspace industry ecosystem, information technology innovation capability, and e-government development, the country moved from breakthroughs in key areas to comprehensive empowerment of development.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China's 5G user penetration rate rose from 15 percent to 83.9. percent, gigabit broadband users increased from 6.4. million to 239 million households, and mobile IoT users rose from 1.136 billion to 2.9. billion. Information infrastructure achieved leapfrog development, making the major arteries of economic and social information flow smoother.

The cyberspace industry ecosystem has accelerated its development, and informatization has become a stronger driver for cultivating new momentum. The added value of China's core digital economy industries as a share of GDP rose from 7.8. percent to 10.4. percent, and the scale of the digital economy remains the second largest in the world. Breakthroughs in key core technologies have accelerated, with new achievements in fields such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, and foundational software. The total number of products equipped with the OpenHarmony operating system has exceeded 1.19 billion units. Research and development in 6G technology and standards formulation have progressed steadily, the first phase of technical testing has been completed, and more than 300 key technology reserves have been formed.

E-government development has advanced steadily, with a nationwide one-network government service platform established. A total of 92.5. percent of provincial-level administrative licensing items can now be handled online with at most one in-person visit. Digital countryside development has achieved obvious results, with the informatization rate of agricultural production rising from 22.5. percent to over 30 percent. In 2024, national rural online retail sales exceeded RMB 2.5. trillion, up 43 percent from the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Remote medical service networks now cover all cities and counties nationwide, and the urban-rural digital divide is closing more quickly.
