Opening the data center of Oriental Wood Chain, the Linyi Municipal Timber Industry Centralized Procurement Platform, one can see information such as the place of origin, transportation route, warehousing quantity, and transaction price of timber raw materials pulsing and updating like a heartbeat. On November 22, this industrial internet platform, jointly built by central and state-owned enterprises, was released and launched during the World Forestry Industry Conference. Integrating the advantages of supply chain finance, centralized procurement and sales, and digital twins, the platform is an important symbol of the industry's transformation and upgrading toward producer services.

The building of the platform is a vivid example of our city's efforts to cultivate the high-end panel and green smart home furnishing industrial chain. From a log to an eco-friendly panel, and then to a set of smart home products, this modern industrial chain in Linyi, with high-end panels as its foundation and green smart home furnishing as its wings, is driving the industry toward better quality and higher levels with strong momentum, helping our city achieve a chain-based leap from the Capital of Panels to the Capital of Wood Industry.

In 2025, the chain leader and deputy chain leaders of the high-end panel and green smart home furnishing industrial chain personally took command and carried out targeted investment attraction across the country. The results were immediate. In the first 11 months, enterprises above designated size in the industrial chain reached 1,591, with output value totaling RMB 131.4. billion, ranking first among all landmark industrial chains in terms of scale. A group of industry giants, including high-end panel brand TUBAO, container wood flooring leader CIMC Group, and D&O Home, successively arrived, injecting the industrial chain with high-end genes and strong momentum.

Behind the impressive data is a precise and powerful combination punch. Our city issued policy documents and launched 24 measures to support and strengthen enterprises, directly addressing core bottlenecks such as land, heat, adhesives, and taxes. Centralized heating prices have dropped significantly, reducing the burden on enterprises by RMB 168 million per year.

The fundamental driving force behind the rise of the industrial chain lies in technological innovation. Our city has used the academician economy to break new ground by inviting four academicians from the national wood industry as industrial chain advisers and advancing the construction of the Linyi High-End Panel and Green Smart Home Furnishing Industrial Technology Research Institute. The institute provides one-stop comprehensive services across the entire industry chain lifecycle, including technology matchmaking, talent attraction and cultivation, scientific and technological R and D, and testing and certification.

On the front lines of enterprises, innovation is already bearing fruit. In the recently announced proposed winners and projects for the 2025 Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards published by the Shandong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the biomimetic wood composite materials project completed by Xingang Group and Northeast Forestry University was listed for the first prize in scientific and technological progress, marking the best achievement for the city's wood industry in the past three years. "By studying bamboo fiber structures, the layered construction of shells, and the mechanical characteristics of spider webs, we developed a unique biomimetic structural design that enables panels to balance strength, toughness, and stability," said the company's technical director while holding a piece of biomimetic board.

Brand and ecosystem are signs that the industry is maturing. Our city took the lead in launching the regional public brand of Linyi Wood Industry and promoted the Linyi Building Panel Cluster into a national brand enhancement list. At the same time, the industrial ecosystem has continued to improve through the implementation of the 125 enterprise gradient cultivation plan and by responding to the call of the municipal Party committee and government for hundreds of groups and thousands of enterprises to take the mall overseas, organizing enterprises to go abroad and expand into overseas markets. The entire industrial ecosystem chain is becoming increasingly complete.

Looking ahead to 2026, the special task force has anchored the overall goal of moving from the Capital of Panels in China to the Capital of Wood Industry in China, clarified the three targets of benchmarking panels against Huzhou, home furnishing against Guangzhou, and policies against Guigang, and identified five major actions: supplementing, extending, and strengthening the industrial chain, gradient cultivation of enterprises, leading with technological innovation, improving brand cultivation, and shaping the industrial ecosystem.

"We will strengthen the internal substance of high-end panels around green formaldehyde-free adhesives, enhance the external appeal of panels around high-performance decorative materials such as high-quality solid wood, make the industrial research institute bigger and stronger, take AI-enabled transformation and upgrading as the direction, and explore artificial intelligence potential projects in the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta so as to improve development capacity across the entire chain," said Zhou Maoyong, Party Secretary and Director of the Municipal Forestry Bureau. In 2026, the task force will accelerate the construction of 78 ongoing projects and the launch of 53 planned projects, raise the number of registered statistical enterprises to 1,600, and push output value of enterprises above designated size across the entire industrial chain beyond RMB 150 billion, contributing to the city's goal of achieving a trillion-yuan industrial economy.
