Excellent news: Yuanmu's traditional furniture and mortise-and-tenon structure craftsmanship has been successfully selected for the eighth batch of representative intangible cultural heritage project listings in Shaanxi Province. This honor is time's reward for craftsmanship.
Since its founding in 2004, Yuanmu has taken Eastern aesthetics as its framework and natural solid wood as its texture, always adhering to the original aspiration of one piece, one wood, and meticulous carving.
Yuanmu's intangible cultural heritage roots run deep and can be traced back to the 1920s, carrying on a legacy of more than a century.

In 2024, on the strength of its traditional furniture and mortise-and-tenon structure craftsmanship, it was selected for the seventh batch of municipal representative intangible cultural heritage project listings in Xi'an. One year later, in December 2025, it reached a new milestone and was successfully selected for the eighth batch of representative intangible cultural heritage project listings in Shaanxi Province.
The inheritance of craftsmanship depends on people. Mr. Feng Bao'an, founder and chairman of Yuanmu, is also a practitioner of intangible heritage transmission, having been successfully selected in 2025 as one of the sixth batch of representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage in Xi'an.
These dual recognitions are not only an acknowledgment of Yuanmu's years of effort in inheriting and innovating traditional Chinese furniture craftsmanship, but also an inspiration to the entire high-end solid wood furniture industry: true high-end value lies not only in the rarity of materials, but also in the accumulation of craftsmanship and the depth of culture.
The product design sketches created by Mr. Feng Bao'an, founder and chairman of Yuanmu, do not pursue industrial mass production, but instead value the warmth of handcraftsmanship. There is no assembly-line duplication here, only veteran craftsmen's persistence in details, allowing every piece of furniture to carry the natural grain and warmth of wood. It holds the Zen spirit of harmony between humanity and nature while fitting the comfort needs of modern living. Mortise-and-tenon structure is a unique craft creation of the Chinese nation with a long history. As China's first enterprise to apply intangible cultural heritage mortise-and-tenon craftsmanship to solid wood furniture, from the principle of three parts material and seven parts selection in choosing logs to the thousand-year firmness of mortise-and-tenon joints, every piece of furniture strictly follows the craftsmanship standards of 16 trades, 48 procedures, and five wiping, six sanding, and three primer processes.
Photos of part of Yuanmu Furniture's production process show that as consumers increasingly pursue quality of life and the cultural depth of furniture, the Yuanmu brand has now become a shared choice of countless solid wood furniture enthusiasts, with a customer repurchase rate as high as 60 percent. Behind the data lies every customer's deep recognition of Yuanmu's products and philosophy.

Photos of Yuanmu Zen Furniture show that the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage are of great significance for continuing historical context and strengthening cultural confidence. Yuanmu will also continue to promote the inheritance and protection of the representative intangible cultural heritage project of traditional furniture and mortise-and-tenon structure making, integrating ancient craftsmanship with contemporary life and injecting new vitality into a thousand-year cultural heritage.
